Experience Details
Finding vegan food in Japan can be challenging, but Buddhist monks have been following plant-based diets for over 800 years. Shojin ryori, traditional Buddhist meals, are naturally vegetarian and often vegan, healthy, and full of flavor.

Join me in my home in Setagaya, Tokyo, for a hands-on cooking class in an authentic Japanese kitchen. Together, you’ll prepare a seasonal, multi-course vegan meal, including specialties such as grilled tofu, lotus root slices, vegetable soup, and a fresh salad.

The experience flows smoothly from start to finish: learn briefly about the philosophy of Shojin Ryori, review the menu and ingredients, cook your meal together using seasonal, gluten-free ingredients, and then enjoy your dishes over lunch or dinner.

For a more immersive experience, I offer an option to visit a local supermarket together, either before or after the class, to discover Japanese ingredients firsthand.
